Health, Smile, Peace
Treat yourself. When things are not going your way drop the situation. Let your mind go and focus on feeling your body. Easier said then done, but only because we’ve created the habit within ourselves about what we choose to embrace. Habits are deep and go beyond what we want at any moment. At a Dahn Yoga center we learn how to create habits that “wire” our brains for what we want out of life for ourselves. Not just “oh I wish I could be better or different”. Take responsibility for your brain, take action and make it yours for the world you want. HSP is the paradigm of creating Health (through a) Smile (to feel) Peace. Choosing at every moment how it is that you want to feel. To choose is not to deny, emotions exist for a reason but to hold on to them and let them dictate what you do is to be a prisoner of your own life. Through the BEST 5 program we learn how to maximize our brain’s potential and free ourselves from stress.
HEALER
I love being a healer! When I was little I wanted to be a pediatric polminologist – children’s lung doctor, because I grew up having asthma. Now at the Dahn Yoga Center to be able to help people using thousands of years old techniques to balance their energy for healing!! I’m excited. I really love that my day consists of taking care of people in a proactive form. Western medicine and technology are dynamic and when combined with the natural, the healing process is something I didn’t know if we’d ever see but I had always hoped would exist. It makes so much sense in my mind for a healthier world and I’m so happy to be a part of a frontier combining wisdoms into a new standard of living for health peace and happiness in a logical progressive way. I picked up the Principles of Brain Management by Dr. Ilchi Lee, fascinating of course. I can’t wait to finish it and then pass the book on to my family for their development.

Another step
Yesterday I went to the local Hospital in Mt. Kisco. I asked to see the director of administration about offering Dahn Hak Yoga to the staff. As warm as the receptionist was, the other end of the phone asked if I would simply leave a card. I left a few brochures and will wait for the phone call excitedly requesting our classes for the staff. Or I will call tomarrow and check on the scenario and see about making an appointment for demonstration.

Moving Along
Here in Bedford Hills things are rolling along. I’m teaching Dahn Yoga once a week to the students at Ridgefield Alternative High School. This has been a bit of a challenge as i’ve never taught a large group of people that are not necessarily learning something of their own volition. I offered the class to the teachers and students and it has become a mandatory attendance for gym credit.
Most of the people are interested but their attention waxes and wanes through the 45 minutes. These are also the students who abhor authority and will not do anything unless they think its a good idea. But i do get a lot of thank yous at the end of class and the few who do participate fully really enjoy the benefit. I’m hoping in the future to be able to offer a more classes per week so these people can really develop a beneficial practice.
Lee Healer-Nim from the Bedford Hills center has also set up a once a week class with the faculty at the Eagle Hill School in Greenwich CT. Unfortunately she has to go out of town for the next few weeks as her grandmother is passing away soon and Lee HlrNm will be an aid to that end – please send her and her family and grandmother good energy to see them all through the scenario with open minds and healing hearts. This Wednesday is the first day of classes she scheduled and wished she could be there to teach. I am happy to take her place and help spread our practice of Dahn Hak Yoga to the surrounding communities.
Also on the horizon i am going to begin teaching full time at the Scarsdale NY Center under the direction of Sun SabuNim, starting in November. I am really excited about the change and the chance to learn from another Dahn Hak Master. As of right now i teach on fridays in the Scarsdale center and am well received by the members (which helps boost confidence in the change).
Olga Nim here at Bedford Hills Center is coordinating a used-cell-phone-collection as a fundraiser for the Phoenix Project. Since returning from the Healer Festival in September she and Amy DooWooNim have been burning with energy to drive YEHA and the Project into action. We will have bi-monthly meetings for making and meeting visions as well as a weekly Body N Brain class which will be a slightly higher pace then our normal classes and will have some games and maybe some skits. Also in the P. Project front, I have a friend that used to work for a Trader Joe’s and found out that every night they dump all the fresh food and day olds into the dumpster. So i’m working on coordinating through some existing community church groups, from my hometown of Ridgefield CT, to collect the food (before its dumped) and get it to distribution centers/shelters and the like.

Dahn Hak Yoga Healing
By DoSaNim | October 1, 2007
Dahn Hak is self empowerment. Dahn Hak Yoga is the first step in creating greater awareness in your self. Leading to a greater capacity for feeling the world around us. Hippies used to talk of mind expansion like you could just swallow a pill – OH AMERICA, shameful. Its the world we live in – “Gimme the quickfix, slimfast, ultra-strength, now, now, now”. Dahn Hak Brain Respiration is now. This is the first contempary training form of the mythical styles of training with Ki energy. The vision is simple and selfless – save the world, one person at a time. Raise the conciouseness of Humanity, one person at a time. Create a greater awareness inside yourself and become connected to others and the world. All the movies we watch, stories we hear and tell, all the books we read; about something larger then ourselves more then dogma. Beyond religions, and the art of war and business, more accessable then the conspiracies. Dahn Hak Yoga is a gateway to now. Other meditations touch on it, Religion worships it, intense focus begins to barely touch it. The reality is, like all the stories say, so simple and we yet we can not seem to access it out of free will in our current mind set. The reality is so unbelievable that we don’t believe its actually possible to do any more then we do, to get by. Most of us are stuck in the “Proof for Reality” paradigm. Holistic health is not just a far out word like tofu was two decades ago. We’re in it up to our knees now and Dahn Hak is the bass boat and fishin’ rod in a researgent flood of information from a legendary time clouded over and forgotten through a Descartes point of view on the workings of The Universe. Through this practice, in a very real way, any understanding is possible.
Sooo Whats Happenen?
In Bedford Hills we just finished a tag sale / bake sale. We raised a few hundred dollars for our YEHA / Phoenix scholarship fund —YYYYYEEEEEEEAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!! Next month Olga -Nim and I are working on a greeting card / postcard printing using the center’s talent for art or poetry, design – whatever any one can do in any way. I’m using the project to raise awareness that Phoenix and YEHA are here to stay and that we have a real obligation to growing these scion communities.
I’ve noticed that fundraising is becoming a drag on our members as most of them are not “made of money”. I propose to initiate some community service projects that help our members; house cleaning, yard clean up, home repair…… things that people pay for that are easy for any of us to do. In this way we can combine healing for our members with learning and growing service projects that help lessen the stress of life and create/strengthen a community bond around our centers.
One Phoenix member mentioned a 50/50 raffle 50% of the purchase price of a ticket goes into a prize money pot and the other goes to the scholarship fund. I’m thinking we could have a drawing every month coinciding with our friends and family healing night – CHUNJIKIUN party.

Finding time
The day seems to slip away before i feel like i’m making any discernable progress on the fronts. i remind myself that keeping my mind sharp and my body in practice is making my soul strong which pulls these desires into alignment for our vision. To everyone: Keep forging ahead remember the excitement of the moment when we sat together and brainstormed, learn to balance as we add an additional weight of community communication to our work load. We are students on the path of enlightenment. Its simplisety is confusing as we learn to relax to hold greater strength. The vision will be achieved and we all will bring this about every moment stay focused. rest each moment as you take the next step. so every moment is jang saeng walking through the mind and body. Rosanne is making the phone calls today to catch up to the health care “captain” at the Mt. Kisco Hospital. This weekend we are holding a tag sale bake sale for the bedford hills center as a fundraiser to the HSP festival next weekend, I’ll be there and maybe a few extra days for additional training as the Dahn organization has many ideas on how to advance the movement. We are all tools and mastercrafts(persons) to that end – stay flexible and bouyant.

Alzheimer’s Assoc. Walk
I have contacted the organizers of the Alzheimer’s Assoc. walk scheduled for Oct. 7. They are very excited to have a “yoga warm-up” Registration is at 9:30 a.m and the walk begins at 11. I am think of starting the warm up at 10:30. They welcome our brochures at their registration table. I will bring the New City brochures since the walk is in Rockland, but I think Montvale brochures would also be good since it is so close. I will also bring a few copies of Human Technology. They are anticipating between 200 and 250 walkers, not all of whom will want to warm up. Is there anyone who would like to be available to answer questions and help with the warm up? I think one or two additional healers would be good. Ceciliahealernim
